Pension & Public Grievances Branch is the Nodal department for formulation of policies relating to pension and other retirement benefits of Assam Government employees. The Department administers and monitors the Acts and Legislations relating to Pension, General Provident Fund, Group Insurance Scheme, Commutation of Pension, Special Family Pension for which purpose, exercises the Financial Powers as the Administrative Department and acts as the Referral Department for interpretation of the Acts/Rules governing pension and other related matters.
A Directorate has also been created in the year 1989 under the administrative control of Pension & Public Grievances Department to deal with the matters relating to pension and other retirement benefits of the teaching and non-teaching employees of provincialized school. Later on in the year 2010, the Directorate has also been empowered to deal with the pension matters of provincialized PRI employees. Finalization of pension of the teaching and non-teaching employees of provincialized school, provincialized PRI employees only are done through the Directorate of Pension.
For processing of all pension cases, KRITAGYATA Portal acts as the front end office through which a retiree can submit pension papers and track the sanctioning status of his/her pension and other retirement benefits.
Additionally, all Sanction Order of medical cases of Commutation of Pension ( cases which are applied after one year of retirement) are issued by the Department. Pension & Public Grievances Department is the nodal Agency for Public Grievances.
